Jean-Nicolas Dumez (1984-2025) was not only one of the finest NMR spectroscopists of his generation, but also a truly remarkable human being and a dear friend to many of us. He chaired the organizing committee of the Alpine Conference in 2019, 2022, and 2023.
After taking over the coordination of the Alpine Conference organization in 2019, Jean-Nicolas worked tirelessly to ensure that it remained an international forum for high-level scientific debate, while also giving a stronger voice to younger participants. He cared deeply about ethics and gender equity and was always attentive to treating scientists with equal respect, regardless of their career stage.
He was not only a brilliant scientist, but also a warm, generous, committed, empathetic, and passionate person.
He will be deeply missed
